Around Mull : Wildlife Explorer - Glen Etive

Wow what a fabulous experience . There were 5 in our party and we were looked after by Captain Dave, Chef Graham , Steward Celeste and Engineer Keelan and what a formidable team they are . We were thoroughly spoilt by them in every possible way . We did the Wildlife tour around Mull and it has to be said you cannot rely on either the weather or the wildlife to appear on demand so you have to be prepared for that . We had a couple of iffy days but the crew did their absolute best to ensure we had a great time anyway . The rooms are spotless and snug but you quickly get used to the size and the engine noise actually becomes quite soothing , we all slept really well . The food was out of this world and we loved the morning porridge served with a wee nip . We had amazing cakes , canapés and the evening meals and cheeses were delicious. Graham noted all customers food aversions and worked his magic . The little touches of different jams and marmalades at breakfast , home made bread , Scottish cheese with dinner , locally sourced meat and fish and even the sweets served with after dinner coffee were so thoughtful. Celeste was ingenious behind the bar making wonderful cocktails and producing tea and coffee when needed, being a welcoming face and creating a homely and beautiful dinner table . Keelan and Celeste took us out on the Tender and made sure we were safe . Keelan was known as the James Bond of the Glen Etive , he was always on hand to help us out and his athleticism getting on and off the boat was a sight to see . Finally Captain Dave , what can we say about him ? He was relentlessly professional, positive, cheerful and just made it his and his teams job to give the customers the best experience but it was always safety first . We managed to see some porpoise , Eagles , Otters and the Puffins were a big hit . Tobermory and Iona were stunning and we docked in some stunning Lochs overnight . It’s hard to sum up this very special trip but we met some really great people and everyone was super friendly and the communal meals were lively and fun . If you’re even thinking of booking one of these trips , just do it !
