Castles and Clans of Mull and Glencoe
Virginia Butterworth
The ship, Glen Massan was small, tiny, rather;
Only in the lounge could we all gather.
The passengers, we were just nine in all,
Couples and solos on a cruise in the fall.
The crew “chust sublime” as Para Handy would say,
Unceasing care throughout the long day.
But the food and the chef
Were the absolute best!
From morning porridge, complete with wee dram
To afternoon scones with raspberry jam.
The lunchtime soups, the chowders and bread
With skill and panache each day we were fed.
A tip of the hat to Andy, our cook,
She’s reason enough to call and re-book.
A tribute also to Claire and spouse Ray,
Whose kindness and grace brightened each cloudy day.
And lastly our skipper, though Sandy’s brogue, it was daunting,
His skills as a sailor were never found wanting.
To Majestic Cruise Line, here’s wishing one of the best;
Nothing but fair winds as you sail next year and the rest.
