Health & Safety: Covid 19 Protocols

Our ability to cruise will be subject to Scottish government guidance

Cruising with Confidence

  • We want to make our cruises as safe and enjoyable as possible while taking into account Scottish and UK Government advice on health and safety
  • All crew members will be tested weekly to ensure that they are free of Covid 19
  • Facial coverings will be worn by the crew indoors in public spaces other than when eating or drinking
  • There will be some changes to our normal procedures which are set out below
  • We have completed Visit Scotland’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ scheme


  • The lead guest of each party will receive a short health questionnaire to be completed and returned to The Majestic Line at least 24 hours before they are due to cruise. This is to confirm they have no Covid 19 symptoms and that they have not been in contact with anyone who has.

Boarding Your Cruise

  • We will not have the traditional ‘meet and greet’ coffee meeting in a hotel
  • Guests will be given the Skipper’s mobile number to call and will be met at the access gate to the pontoons where crew will look after luggage and escort guests to the boat
  • We will check each guest’s temperature on boarding

On Board

  • On board guests will be asked to observe the one metre rule in terms of distance from fellow passengers and crew
  • Facial coverings must be worn by the guests whilst moving around indoors in public spaces
  • Hand washing is actively encouraged and there will be hand sanitiser stations on board
  • Doors will be left open wherever possible to allow for good ventilation and eliminate the need to touch them
  • All en-suites will be provided with anti-bacterial soap
  • Wipes will be available to wipe down surfaces
  • The Skipper will temperature check all crew and guests daily at breakfast time and keep a record – this will be destroyed 7 days after the end of the cruise
  • The dining area will have the capacity to take into account current legislation for hospitality
  • Individual cruets will be available
  • Wine will be poured by the crew
  • Fruit/soft drinks/tea & coffee is available all day but must be requested from a crew member
  • Chefs – food preparation as per Covid 19 guidance


  • All cabins will be given a deep clean between cruises
  • All public areas and touch points in particular will be regularly cleaned and sanitised throughout the day
  • Normal cruising would allow the Bosun to enter bedrooms daily to make the bed and clean, if necessary. Guests will be asked if they want the Bosun to enter their bedrooms, if they do, the Bosun will wear the required PPE, ie mask and gloves

Going Ashore – Tender

  • Limited to 6 guests per trip, to maintain 1 m social distancing
  • Guests will be allocated their own lifejacket for the duration of the cruise
  • Guests will be reminded to follow relevant Scottish government guidance whilst ashore
  • Guests will be asked to respect the local community
  • Guests will be reminded to take masks ashore and wear them when appropriate
