Outer Hebrides & St Kilda - Glen Shiel
We have had a wonderful 10 day cruise to the Outer Isles and St. Kilda.
We found everything on the boat to be excellent! It was perfectly clean, extremely comfortable and had all the facilities that we needed. All the crew were professional, very friendly and excellent at their jobs.
The skipper, Davey’s obvious experience gave us complete confidence in his seamanship; he was more than happy for guests to be on the bridge with him, where he chatted happily to us; he was fun to be with.
The engineer, Cam worked tirelessly at his many and varied jobs, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and fixing things (electrical, plumbing and mechanical) without fuss. He gave clear safety briefings as and when required. He was always keen to impart his extensive knowledge of wildlife and its environment, with obvious and infectious enthusiasm. He was always keen to ensure guests were enjoying their time aboard and he would do everything necessary to enhance our experience. He is a charming and engaging young man.
The steward, Alice is a star! What an impressive young woman she is! She worked incredibly hard to ensure that all the guests were looked after perfectly: our room was prepared and cleaned beautifully; everyday the table was set differently, imaginatively and artistically; her service was attentive and efficient yet carried out with ease and humour. She completely understands hospitality, is a perfect hostess and does her job with natural charm and fun.
Graeme’s culinary skills are excellent! How he managed to produce so many, varied and delicious dishes in such a small galley and in the conditions (sometimes choppy) is remarkable! Some of the dishes were truly memorable. We also appreciated that he worked hard to avoid waste, often repurposing leftovers for some other delicious creation. Every single meal was delicious and a joy!
We could not fault anything about our dealings with Majestic Line, from the initial booking, to arrangement for joining the cruise (including with their car parking partner firm), the cruise itself and their superb crew.
